Mountain Biking

ALONG THE COFFEE TRAIL (6 Days)

This trip takes us from Cusco to the fertile jungle soil where coffee is grown, pedalling for 6 days along incredible trails, and through the most diverse vegetation. We will go from enjoying delicious thermal baths in the cold mountain climate, to the comfort of a fabulous coffee estate in the middle of the warm and humid jungle lands.

Day 1 – Cusco – Lares

Max. Elevation: 4470m / 14665f
Min. Elevation: 3200m / 10500f
Difficult level: 2 - 3

The bus picks us up early from our hotel in Cusco, to take us in about three hours to the highest point on the road between Cusco and the Lares Valley (4470m/ 14,665ft). Depending on how energetic we are feeling, we can get out a short way before the pass to ride up to it. Once we are at the pass, we start what will be a tranquil day of downhill on the road, past many beautiful spots, to the town of Lares. Half way down, we stop to enjoy a delicious lunch, while soaking up the view.

When we get to Lares we find time to relax in the delicious thermal baths. Later on there is a great dinner waiting for us, and a precious moment to share beneath the stars.

After the visit we take our bicycles and start pedalling on the down hill path which will gradually lead us into what is known as the “ceja de selva”, or edge of the jungle. In contrast to the cold and dry air of the previous day, we enjoy a pleasant climate, hot and humid, telling us that we are entering the jungle.

After three nights of camping, we are able to enjoy all the commodities of the exclusive TANIT TRAILS bungalows.

Day 5 – Kimiarato Estate

Today, the cyclists will surely want to explore part of the 6000 hectares of the estate by bicycle. However, there may be others who prefer to cover the distance on horseback, walk along the trails, or simply relax in the estate. In the afternoon we enjoy a delicious barbecue, and why not a bottle of fine wine; a well deserved reward after several days of hard yet beautiful travelling.
