Mountain Biking - Two and three day programs

CUSCO – LARES VALLEY – CUSCO (2 days)

Fabulous downhills, various kilometres along a rarely used Inca Trail, relaxing thermal baths, and an unforgettable night under the stars, are some of the things we will enjoy on this two day trip, which leads us to join an ancient road between two important valleys in the Cusco area.

Day 1 – Cusco - Lares

Min. Elevation: 3200m / 10500f
Difficult level: 3

The bus picks us up early in the morning from our hotel in Cusco, to take us on a 3 hours trip to the highest point on the way between Cusco and the Lares Valley (4470m / 14665f) Once we arrive at the pass, we get our bicycles ready to begin what will be a relaxing day of mild dirt road downhill. On our way we certainly find the time to stop for a light lunch and enjoy the beautiful views of the region.

Once in Lares we find the time to relax in the delicious thermal baths. A great warm dinner and a well deserved bottle of wine await us to finish our day.

Day 2 – Lares - Cusco

Max. Elevation: 4470m / 14665f
Min. Elevation: 2960m / 9710f
Difficult level: 3 - 4
Average riding distance: 20km
Estimated riding time: 4 hours

After a healthy breakfast we have the option to visit the ruins and town of Choquecancha. Once the visit is finished, our bus is ready to take us back to the Lares Mountain Pass.

Once again the Mountain Pass is the departure point of our biking ride, but this time heading to the Sacred Valley. The ancient Inca Trail and a quick flowing narrow stream lead us on our way down. Without even noticing it, we go into a small hidden canyon where we may appreciate a few Chulpas (pre Inca tombs) hanging from the walls.

The path leads us to the native community of Totora, where we may decide between following a narrow single track offering breath taking views of the Sacred Valley, or just continue riding on the wide dirt road to Calca town.
