Build your own programCUSCO – MACHU PICCHU 5D/4NFor many travelers the visit to Cusco and Machu Picchu is the most important part of their trip to Peru. As in all our programs, the itinerary we present here is totally flexible in its order and contents, and can be completely arranged according to the particular desires of the client. Day 1 – Cusco City and the nearby ruinsOn our first day in the city of Cusco, it is recommendable to take it easy. Once we are checked into our hotel, and probably after enjoying a light lunch, our guide picks us up to take us on a tour around the most important places in the city. We visit the ancient Inca temple of the Sun (Koricancha), the impressive cathedral, and the Inca ruins of Sacsayhaumán, Qenko, Pucapucara and Tambomachay. Accommodation: Hotel in Cusco Day 2 – Sacred ValleyApproximately one hour outside of Cusco, the Vilcanota River (Urubamba) forms one of the most beautiful and fertile valleys in Peru. Surrounded by beautiful mountains and scattered with important Inca ruins, the Sacred Valley of the Incas is a place worth visiting. On our trip we visit the ruins and the market at Pisac, the picturesque Inca town of Ollantaytambo, and the town of the weavers, Chinchero. At midday we enjoy a delicious lunch in the middle of spectacular scenery. In the afternoon our bus takes us back to the hotel in Cusco. Meals: B, L Day 3 – Cusco – Machu PicchuToday we get up very early to take the 6am train to Aguas Calientes. After three and a half hours we arrive at our destination. Once we arrive we take the 25 minute bus ride up to the ruins. Our guide accompanies us and explains the details of the impressive citadel. We have time to walk around the area, and depending on our fitness, climb up the famous Huayna Picchu. Meals: B Day 4 – Machu Picchu - CuscoFor those early birds among us, the beautiful sight of the sunrise over the ruins is something worth experiencing. We go up on one of the first buses, when the citadel is still practically deserted; the walkers arriving from the Inca Trail are still far away, and the first trains have not yet arrived. The experience is unforgettable. The rest of the day we walk in the surrounding area or simply relax. In the afternoon we take the train back to Cusco. Meals: B Day 5 - CuscoToday is our last day in Cusco. We have the morning free to do our last-minute shopping and walk around a little in the picturesque streets. LUXURY LAKE TITICACA (2 DAYS)Suasi is a secluded island located off the beaten path in the north-eastern section of Lake Titicaca. This island features one of the most beautiful eco-lodges in Peru. This program is perfect for the traveler who wants to enjoy the marvels of nature at Lake Titicaca, far from the crowd, while enjoying a high level of service and comfort. Day 1 – Puno – Taquile Island – Suasi IslandOur transport picks us up from the hotel to take us in just a few minutes to the Puno Port, where we begin our motor boat trip. Our first brief stop allows us to see the picturesque reed islands of the Uros people. Later we disembark on the island of Taquile, where we walk a little in the surrounding area and see the people wearing their traditional dress. We arrive at our hotel on the Suasi Island to enjoy a delicious lunch on the beach. In the afternoon we have time to walk, kayak, or simply relax. The option of a relaxing massage is highly recommended. Meals: L, D Day 2 – Suasi - PunoDepending on our program we can enjoy more or less extra time on this spectacular island. When the time comes to leave, the hotel boat will take us on a 10 minute trip to the eastern coast of the lake. From here our private transport will take us on to our next destination. LAKE TITICACA VIVENTIAL EXPERIENCE (2 DAYS)Since time immemorial Lake Titicaca has been the home and source of life for various towns of Quechua and Aymara origin. Despite the Spanish conquest and multiple other external influences, these towns have known how to keep their traditions, language and traditional dress alive. Visiting the islands of the Wiñaymarca archipelago is a unique opportunity for interaction with local communities and a deep contact with nature, far from the beaten-track. Day 1 – Puno – Anapia IslandToday our journey is about two and a half hours by road, and an hour and a half by boat. During the trip we enjoy spectacular views of the lake and the altiplano (high Andean plateau). Once we arrive in Anapia, one of the five islands of the archipelago, we are welcomed into our homes for the night by our hosts. Depending on how we feel, we have the option to walk around the area, visit the town and share various activities with the local people. We enjoy our lunch and dinner with our hosts. Meals: L, D Day 2 – Anapia – Yuspique - PunoWe get up very early to enjoy the beautiful sight of the sunrise over the lake. After breakfast with our host family, we say goodbye and continue our journey by traditional sailing boat to the island of Yuspique, also known as the Island of the Vicuñas, as these animals live wild on the island. After visiting the island, we have some time to enjoy a delicious traditional Huatia (earth oven) on the banks of the lake. In the afternoon we begin our journey to return to the city of Puno. CLASSIC COLCA CANYON (3 DAYS)Considered to be one of the deepest canyons in the world, the Colca Canyon offers such dramatically sparse landscapes that they are capable of transporting us to a completely new dimension. During these three days, we will enjoy delicious thermal baths under the stars, spectacular walks to Inca ruins, close-up views of giant condors in flight and tours of beautiful colonial towns on the edge of the canyon. Day 1 – Arequipa – Colca CanyonOur transport picks us up early in the morning to take us on a trip of approximately four hours to the town of Chivay. On the way we cross the Aguada Blanca reserve, famous for its large vicuña population. The beautiful and arid landscapes offer us various places where to enjoy our picnic lunch. In the afternoon we have the opportunity to relax in the delicious thermal baths of the canyon. Meals: L, D Day 2 – Colca Canyon ExplorationToday we get up early to begin our trip to the lookout point of “Cruz del Condor” or Cross of the Condor. With a little luck we see these giant birds fly so close that we can feel the whistle of the wind cut by their enormous wings. On our way back we stop in various towns whose histories date back to pre-hispanic times. In the afternoon we can walk around the area, or enjoy the thermal baths. COLCA CANYON MULTIACTIVITY (3 DAYS)A trip to the Colca Canyon is not only spectacular in terms of scenery, it also offers the most varied alternatives for the active visitor. We make available to the traveller a different itinerary which combines the fun of river rafting, the freedom of downhill biking, and the relaxing sensation of walking through beautiful landscapes. Day 1 - Arequipa River Rafting – Colca CanyonOur transport picks us up from the hotel to take us on a short 20 minute trip to the put-in for our river rafting. After an hour and 45 minutes of adrenalin packed descent of class III and IV rapids, we take the road into the Colca Canyon. A dirt track takes us in approximately four hours to the entrance to one of the deepest canyons in the world. In the afternoon we have time to enjoy the thermal baths and relax. Meals: L, D Day 2 - Cruz del Condor – Downhill Mountain BikingToday we get up very early to begin our trip to the deepest part of the canyon. The look out point of “Cruz del Condor” or Cross of the Condor allows us to observe these giant birds rise up from the depths of the canyon. After admiring this spectacle, we take our bikes and begin what will be a long and enjoyable descent into the town of Yanque. Along the way we occasionally stop to admire small colonial towns, Inca terraces and other places of interest. In the afternoon we may relax once more in the thermal baths. TAMBOPATA JUNGLE (4 DAYS)Thanks to their isolation and difficult access in the past, the jungle regions of Tambopata and Manu have remained relatively untouched until very recent times. This has allowed the flora and fauna to be preserved quite purely in these areas. The 4 day program in Tambopata is ideal for the traveller wishing to complete his/her trip to Peru with a visit to the Jungle. Day 1 – Cusco – Puerto Maldonado – Jungle LodgeThe flight from Cusco to the city of Puerto Maldonado is approximately 30 minutes long. When we arrive, a representative of the lodge is waiting to take us to the hotel’s motor boat. The boat ride length depends entirely on the lodge we choose, but is usually about two hours long. In the afternoon we begin with our activities. Meals: L, D Days 2 & 3 – Jungle ExplorationThese days will be structured according to our wishes and special interests. We will walk along diverse paths surrounding the lodge, paddle on nearby lakes, climb up the tower or other look-out points to observe the flora and fauna of the canopy. PARACAS – NAZCA LINES (2 DAYS)There are many theories concerning the origin of the Nazca lines, however, the mystery has still not been unravelled. Aside from flying over the famous lines, and visiting the impressive Ica desert, on this trip we will visit the beautiful natural reserve of Paracas, protected home to an immense diversity of marine species, such as the Humboldt penguin, the South American Fur Seal, and a great quantity of bird species. Día 1 – Lima – ParacasWe get up early to begin our trip through the desert strip along the coast towards the National Reserve of Paracas. Our hotel is practically in the entrance to the reserve; we make a short stop to leave our things and maybe refresh ourselves with a quick drink, and then resume our journey through the desert towards the most interesting points in the reserve. Today’s itinerary will be structured according to our specific interests. In any case we will have time to explore the reserve, walk in the surroundings, relax in the pool and enjoy the spectacular marine views. Meals: L, D Día 2 – Paracas – Nazca Lines – LimaEarly in the morning we will take a boat to the Ballestas Islands. During the trip we admire the famous picture of the candelabra, and observe different species of sea lions and birds. Upon our return to our hotel we get ready for a trip of approximately 45 minutes to the Ica airport, where we take our flight over the Nazca lines.
