About Us: Philosophy | EquipmentPhilosophyTANIT TRAILS is firmly committed to the sustainable development of tourism in Peru. For this reason we do not only believe with total conviction in the “leave no trace” philosophy, but we are also making concrete efforts to contribute to the conservation of nature and the sustainable development of local communities. We believe that the pristine natural areas, as well as the different traditional cultures which exist in our country, are treasures which should be protected and conserved. Given that our principal objective is that our clients enjoy their trip to the maximum, we have paid special attention to each one of the programs we offer so that each is unique and special. For this we have taken solely and exclusively from our own personal experience in the field, experience which we have from years of exploration and work in the most remote corners of the country. We believe that the only way for our clients to have an authentic experience of Peru is to take them far away from the crowds, so that they can enter into deep contact with nature and the local cultures. We will not miss out the important tourist sites such as Machu Picchu, but we will see them from a different perspective. The fact that we try to remove our clients from the conventional, does not imply, in any way, that we leave to one side the other two basic pillars of our operation, which are safety, and quality of service. Within our list of priorities, the most important is security. We are fully conscious of the fact that most outdoor activities involve an element of risk. Our objective is to minimize that risk to the maximum, using all the safety measures at our disposal. Our guides have years of experience and are experts in the activities they carry out. All of them are qualified in first aid, specialized in altitude problems and they are trained in evacuation techniques. On the trips which include outdoor activities we will always carry the necessary equipment for emergencies. Quality of service is the third pillar of our operation. We are convinced that adventure is not the synonym of hardship, but that it is, in fact the ideal moment to enjoy the possibility of traveling in style. Through attention to the smallest details we make our clients feel special. Our camping equipment is all of the best quality, and is renewed constantly so that it is always in perfect condition. Our camp stoves are operated by restaurant chefs, who excel themselves with carefully prepared menus to satisfy even the most demanding; vegetarian options are just as good as those containing meat. Finally, we understand that the trip leader is the face of the company, and so we are especially careful when we choose our guides. They are all bilingual, capable of the job and comply with all the necessary requisites such as training for emergency attention, a lot of experience in the field, broad knowledge of the places visited, logistics management, and always, a good dose of good humour. |
